Providing Water Safety for over 75 Years
Just as the roles of the Lake Lifeguards are multifaceted, so are those of this association. It is both a labor organization and a professional association. Both responsibilities aid us in achieving our objectives of supporting those we represent and the community that we are employed to protect.
Los Angeles County Lake Lifeguards protect 3 of the largest parks in Southern California: Castaic, Bonelli and Santa Fe Dam. In addition to the obvious role of guarding the swim and boating areas we also are responsible for the safety of everyone in our parks. To achieve this, each facility operates a patrol boat, rescue truck, bicycle patrol and lifeguard towers. To aid in public safety, the lake lifeguards also serve a law enforcement role and can issue citations and make arrests.
